First draft: finished. Second draft: complete.
Yeah, yeah, I know. It’s a bit late to start a journal, but I still have quite a few drafts to go. Besides, I’m only talking about Book I in the trilogy (assuming in doesn’t expand).
I’m now working on a complete revision of the book’s opening. All the reviews on Litopia agreed that the first few chapters dragged quite a bit. But, as we all know, openings are meant to be altered. Two or three days ago I began my revision, but was dissatisfied with it, too. So now I’m writing a revision of my revision. Whatever happened in the first draft’s opening is basically being shoved to the back of the file cabinet. The character sketches for the info file are going well. They just aren’t going consistently. I don’t have as much time as I’d like to, to mess around with what isn’t crucial at the moment. Besides, they will show up sometime within the remainder of this…whatever you want to call it.
Hopefully, I’ll have at least two more drafts done by the end of the year (yeah…right). Everyone is getting impatient; I guess I should explain that novels can’t only have one draft: what a disaster that would be!
