Well, there hasn’t been a lot of action lately. There has been ups and downs between character relationships; I’m still trying to adjust the relationship between Whisker and Leaf. At times it seems as if Whisker is in control, bossing Leaf around. Other times it seems as if she is simply trying to annoy him (and succeeding), but not quite being in command. I just need to work out a few kinks. I decided to make the two join Argent during her trip to Embla, which cuts out the entire trick mission scene. But I like it better this way, because it gives the readers a chance to see the town from different perspectives.
It’s amazing how much has been added. Even after all that has been taken out, the novel (up to the same point in time from the first draft) is nearly 10,000 words longer. At this point in the original draft I was up to about Chapter Eight; however, it is now only Chapter Four. There’s still a lot more to do. I just have to make sure I have the time. Well, I’m on a long break from school now (about five weeks), so I’ll have a little more time to write…of course Christmas is only ten days away – since when did holidays come so fast?
